Man Tried For Raping 7-Year-Old Stepdaughter As Mom Took Photos

MONTEVIDEO – The Uruguayan judiciary indicted a man on charges of repeatedly raping his 7-year-old stepdaughter while his girlfriend, the child’s mother, permitted it and took photos with her cell phone, the local press reported on Saturday.

The couple, both 30, were arrested last Thursday and after admitting their deeds at court in Maldonado, some 150 kilometers (93 miles) east of Montevideo, went to jail accused of rape and producing pornography.

The case came to light by chance, after the male suspect, who worked as a security guard at a supermarket, lent the telephone to a policeman who was guarding the same establishment and who accidentally activated the photographic file.

According to the daily La Republica, the cop asked for the cell phone to send a text message and unintentionally saw a series of photos where his buddy was seen feeling and raping the little girl.

After returning the phone without mentioning what he had seen so as not to alert the rapist, the cop reported the incident to his superiors.

Once arrested and questioned by the domestic violence unit of the Maldonado police, the suspected rapist, identified by the initials J.E.L., admitted that the photographs had been taken by his girlfriend, the little girl’s mother, who allowed him to do so and approved of the situation.

Once arrested, the woman confessed her part in the acts without showing any sign of repentance.

La Republica added that the child has been placed in the custody of her grandmother, who had cared for the little girl until the mother asked for her back several months ago.
