MONTEVIDEO -- Fire crews from Uruguay's River Plate Park said Sunday they extinguished the two fires that broke out in the resort cities of Bello Horizonte and Guazubira, located 55 kilometers (34 miles) east of Montevideo.
Investigators have not yet determined what started the blazes, which were put out Saturday night after scorching 50 hectares (123 acres).
Emergency services officials said no one died in the fires, but a resident lost his home.
"As of noon today, everything is under control," fire department public affairs chief Carlos Nicola said Sunday.
Fire crews will now focus on making sure that the blazes, which burned fields and forests, could not restart, Nicola said.
