LA PAZ – The government of the southeastern Bolivian province of Chuquisaca has chosen Spanish company AH to conduct a technical, economic, social and environmental study of a proposed $9 million hydroelectric dam.
The El Carrizal project would involve building a hydroelectric power station on the Camblaya River, which joins the Paicho River in the neighboring southern province of Tarija, state-run news agency ABI said, citing Chuquisaca Gov. Esteban Urquizu.
AH has 18 months to deliver the study, which was commissioned by state-owned electric utility ENE.
The hydroelectric dam would have a maximum generating capacity of 346 megawatts, according to current estimates.
