LA PAZ – At least eight people died on Monday when the bus they were riding in went off the road on a highway in central Bolivia, local media reported.
Three people were injured in the mishap.
The crash, the cause of which has not yet been determined, occurred about 4:30 p.m. on the highway linking the city of Cochabamba with the town of Mizque, Radio Erbol reported.
The minibus belonged to the Estrella del Sur transport firm.
Road accidents are common occurrences in Bolivia, taking the lives of about 1,000 people per year and injuring some 40,000, according to official figures.
