MADRID – King Felipe VI of Spain on Saturday conveyed his sincere condolences to the brother of the late Cuban revolutionary leader Fidel Castro.
In a telegram sent to current President of Cuba Raul Castro, the Spanish monarch recalled the historical family ties between Fidel Castro and Spain, adding that the former leader of the Cuban Revolution was an historical figure.
“Once again the great closeness between Spain and Cuba means everything that happens in Cuba is felt in Spain,” the statement said.
The King expressed condolences to the Castros on behalf of the royal family.
“With this affection shared between the Cuban and Spanish people, let me offer my most sincere condolences to the government and authorities of Cuba,” said the official message from the royal household.
