BUENOS AIRES – Argentine President Cristina Fernandez’s son was hospitalized in Buenos Aires for treatment of a liver abscess, the official Telam news agency reported, citing doctors.
Maximo Kirchner was taken to the private Otamendi clinic on Saturday.
The 38-year-old Kirchner was elected to a seat in Congress from the southern province of Santa Cruz on Oct. 25.
Kirchner was listed on Saturday night in “clinically stable (condition) and is in the process of recovering,” Telam said, citing a statement from the clinic.
The politician, the son of late former President Nestor Kirchner, was treated for a “liver abscess of diverticular origin,” the clinic said.
“As a result, a successful percutaneous drainage was done by doctors Pedro Ferraina and Francisco Suarez Anzorena,” the clinic said.
