SANTO DOMINGO – Dominican police seized more than $1 million in counterfeit U.S. currency and arrested eight people in a raid on a home in Santo Domingo.
The group also printed drug prescription pads bearing the official letterheads and logos of the counter-narcotics and tax agencies, police said.
Authorities identified one of the eight suspects, Diogenes Alvarez Brito, as the leader of the criminal enterprise, which was operating from a home in the capital’s San Carlos neighborhood.
Police confiscated two printers and a little more than $1 million in counterfeit $100 bills.
The raid followed an extensive investigation, police said in a statement. EFE
