Four Murdered in Puerto Rico

SAN JUAN – Four people were murdered early Monday in Puerto Rico, raising to eight the number of homicides during the long Christmas weekend, police said.

The murders in the cities of San Juan, Trujillo Alto, Cidra and Bayamon pushed to nearly 670 the number of violent deaths in the island this year.

A man identified as Hector Soler Aguilar, 32, was shot and killed after an argument in the Barrio Obrero neighborhood of San Juan’s Santurce district.

Daniel Alicea, 29, was killed in Trujillo Alto, but no details were provided about the circumstances surrounding the murder.

Gabriel Cotto, a 37-year-old resident of the Comerio neighborhood, was shot several times and killed in Cidra’s Castrodad district.

Christian Diaz, 26, was shot several times in the head and neck, and killed during an incident in Bayamon’s Residencial Brisas section, police said.
