MEXICO Ė The government of Mexico announced on Wednesday that a team of experts from Canada will support the investigation of the Dec. 24 helicopter crash that killed the governor of the state of Puebla and her husband.
Governor Martha Erika Alonso and her husband Senator Rafael Moreno Valle passed away in the Coronango, Puebla crash along with one of the senatorís assistants and the helicopterís pilot and first official.
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) will send on Thursday two experts to join a third party already investigating the accident, the Directorate General of Civil Aeronautics of the Secretariat of Communications and Transportation said.
ďIn this way, the Government of Mexico fulfills the promise made by the President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador,Ē the government department said in a press release.
Lopez Obrador said nothing will be hidden in regards to this tragedy, and that asking a foreign organization to analyze the accident will help prevent suspicions.
The investigators will fly directly from Canada to Puebla airport on Thursday and will begin working at the accident site the following day.
Alonso assumed the governorship of Puebla on Dec. 14, a position her husband occupied from 2011-2017.
