Three Gunned Down in Popular Mexican Resort Area

MEXICO CITY – Three people were fatally shot and two others wounded in the Mexican tourist mecca of Los Cabos, the Baja California Sur state Attorney General’s Office said Monday.

Authorities received a report Sunday afternoon about the presence of five shooting victims on the San Jose del Cabo-San Lucas road, according to an official statement.

Once at the scene, police found three men dead and two other people – a man and a women – wounded.

Paramedics took the wounded survivors to a nearby hospital, while the bodies of the dead were transported to the state medical examiner’s office, the AG Office said.

Officials are working to identify the fatalities and to determine the circumstances of the shooting.

Baja California Sur, with a population of fewer than 650,000 people, has experienced 198 homicides so far this year.
