VERACRUZ, Mexico – A Honduran news photographer was gunned down over the weekend in the Mexican Gulf state of Veracruz, police spokesmen said.
Edwin Rivera Paz was killed Sunday in Acayucan, a city in the southern part of Veracruz, by two gunmen riding a motorcycle.
Rivera Paz worked with Igor Padilla Chavez, a journalist murdered in January in the northern Honduran city of San Pedro Sula.
The victim’s brother, Pablo Rivera Cabrera, told investigators that the news photographer had been living in southern Veracruz for several months.
Rivera Paz worked with Padilla, who was employed by San Pedro Sula’s HCH television station.
Padilla, who was also a television producer and created the “Los verduleros” comedy show in 2009, was gunned down and his body found in the street.
