Mexican Authorities Gun Down Another Beltran Leyva Cartel Member

MEXICO CITY – Police of the Nayarit Attorney General’s Office gunned down Daniel Isaac Silva Garate in a shootout with suspected members of the Beltran Leyva drug cartel, local media reported on Saturday, citing the AG’s office.

The clash occurred at around 10:00 pm in the village of El Aguacate in the western municipality of Tepic, the press said.

The death of Silva Garate came a day after a gun battle that left Beltran Leyva leader Juan Francisco Patron Sanchez dead, along with another seven suspected criminals.

That same day, the navy dispersed a second attack near the city’s airport and killed another four criminals who belonged to the cartel.

According to preliminary reports on what happened in the case of Silva Garate, police said they chased down and confronted two armed individuals in a red vehicle.

One of them lost his life in the operation and was identified as Silva Garate, also known as “the gentleman of the armored cars.”
