Youths Stomp on Castro Memorial outside Cuban Embassy in Brazil

BRASILIA A group of young people stomped over the weekend on flowers and condolence messages left outside the Cuban Embassy in Brasilia in honor of Fidel Castro, officials told EFE on Monday.

Police are investigating the incident, which occurred Sunday night, using images from security cameras to try to identify the people involved.

Six young men traveling in two automobiles stopped outside the embassy and stomped on the flowers and messages left by admirers of Castro, who died on Friday night at the age of 90, officials told EFE.

The Cuban Embassy made a condolence book available Monday to Brazilians, who will be able to sign it for five days, diplomats said.
