Man Suspected of Murdering a Brazilian Family Hands Himself over to Spanish Police

MADRID Ė A man suspected of murdering a Brazilian family of four was arrested in Madrid on Wednesday after agreeing to turn himself into the authorities.

Patrick Gouveia, 20, was immediately arrested in the Spanish capital upon disembarking his plane from Sao Paolo, Brazil, as part of a prior agreement to hand himself over to the police.

The arrest took place at Madridís Adolfo Suarez-Madrid Barajas international airport.

The suspect, 20, stands accused of murdering a Brazilian couple and their two children aged one and four in the town of Pioz in central Spain.

Gouveia is the nephew of the murdered man.

The remains of the family were discovered on Sept. 18, hidden in plastic bags inside the suspectís apartment.

Authorities believe the murder took place a month before the discovery of the bodies.
