QUITO – All six people aboard perished when a military plane crashed while on a mission to carry supplies to remote outposts in the Amazon region, the Ecuadorian army said.
Killed were pilot Raul Cadena, co-pilot Edison Narvaez, and soldiers Edison Moreno, Henry Ortiz, Alvaro Guambo and Edwin Analuiza, the military press office said.
The Cessna went down at 4:53 p.m. Wednesday while flying between Taisha in Morona Santiago province and Shell, a town in Pastaza province.
Search teams are in the area to recover the bodies and a panel has been formed to determine the cause of the crash, the military said. EFE
