Ecuadorean President in China on State Visit

BEIJING – Ecuadorean President Rafael Correa arrived in Beijing on Monday to begin a state visit to China during which he is to meet his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping and participate in the China-Celac Forum.

“We land in Beijing. We are already in millennial China, a civilization and history that arouses admiration in those who know them,” wrote the president in his Twitter account.

It is the first state visit by an Ecuadorean president to China.

Over the next two days, Correa will be received by Xi in Beijing’s Grand Palace on Tuesday after which the two leaders will hold a bilateral meeting.

On Thursday, Correa will take part in the first ministerial meeting of the China-CELAC Forum.

In addition, Correa is to attend various cultural activities, meet with the Ecuadorean community in Beijing and travel to Shanghai on Friday to meet Chinese investors and entrepreneurs on the last leg of his trip.
