Germany’s Black Forest Hit by Snow as Sub-Zero Temperatures Forecast

ACHERN, Germany – Fresh snowfall arrived to Germany’s southwestern mountainous Black Forest region on Wednesday.

A downed tree blocked a snow-covered road near the city of Achern, while a snowplow was pictured clearing the way for other road-users.

Picnic benches installed for warmer climes were blanketed in deep heaps of the precipitation.

Snowfall was forecast in southwestern Germany in the coming days, with sub-zero degrees Celsius temperatures foreseen in some parts.

Germany’s national meteorological service DWD warned of further snowfall, ice and frost in the region.

The DWD also had a “significant” weather warning (level 2 on a scale of 4) in place in the south of the neighboring Bavaria, on the border with Austria.
