Vice-President of PDVSA
Petroleum Engineer graduated from Universidad de Oriente in 1974. Postgraduate studies on Systems Analysis and Programs Managing from the universities of Harvard and Columbia in the United States.
He entered the oil industry in 1974 with the Corporacion Venezolana del Petroleo (CVP). He held several technical and managing positions, including: Field Engineer on the states of Anzoategui, Monagas and Guarico; Operations Manager at Morichal (Monagas); Engineer in Caracas in charge of the Orinoco layer, Pedernales, and Costa Afuera at Lagoven.
From 1983 to 1986, he worked as a Recovery Project Coordinator for the Zulia state.
From 1986 to 1992, he worked as Chief of the Grupo de Explotacion de Yacimientos de Monagas Norte y Sur; and from 1992 to 1993, as a Planning Superintendent in Northern Monagas, at Corpoven.
In 1993, he was appointed Evaluation and Technology Manager of Corpoven; and Technical Manager of Anaco and Punta de Mata Districts in 1995.
In Corpoven, former affiliate of PDVSA, he also worked the positions of Planning and Production Manager (1996) and Barinas-Apure Districts Manager (1997) (currently South District of PDVSA).
In 1999 he became Manager of the Lagunillas District in Zulia state.
Mr. Rodriguez has also worked on special assignments for Exxon Research and Elf Aquitaine offshore, regarding analysis and research on the Northern Sea.
Additionally, he performed as a Math and Statistics Professor at the Universidad Central de Venezuela.
In the year 2001 he took the position of Planning and Production Manager of PDVSA Caracas, and in the year 2002, he was voted Director of PDVSA. He was also appointed President of Petrozuata on the same year.
In the year 2004, he took the Vice-President charge of the Corporation, responsible for the Exploration and Production areas nationwide.
