Machum, Eric R.

Managing Director and owner of Panamericano Venezolana.

Born in Toronto, Canada in 1948. Educated at Trinity College School, Ontario. Graduate University of the Americas, Mexico City in 1971 in Business Administration.

In 1971 he began insurance career in London with Lloyd's brokers "Hogg Robinson", transferred to Lima, Peru, Ecuador and Quito, prior to transfer by them to start Panamericano Venezolana in 1975, a specialist facultative reisurance broker and risk management company. As a result of involvement in the Port Privatization process in Venezuela he has been a speaker at marine seminars held by the Through Transport Club, The World Bank, AAPA, and others in Venezuela, Brazil, Ecuador, Cuba, Nicaragua, Panama and Belgium.

Founding Partner in Coriagro, specialist Agricultural Inspection company; Vice-President British Chamber of Association and member of the Consejo Nacional de Seguros.

Member of Caracas Country Club; Baraballeda Golf Club; Los Cortijos Club; Royal Canadian Yatch Club (Toronto).

Married to Sabina Matthies de Machum, Director of Sociedad Civil El Albor, foundation managing schools for 1500 children in the poorest barrios of Catia.
