Girón Urdaneta, Gustavo A.

Former Naval Officer and afterwards financial specialist at Shell Venezuela.

Born in Caracas, Venezuela. Graduated from the Naval School of Venezuela (B.Sc. Naval Science, major: electronics) and the Metropolitan University in Caracas (Postgraduate Course in Finance).

Gustavo has pursued courses in financial management and international business at the London School of Economics; planning and financial decision making at Shell training centre in London; activity based costing at IESA; and derivates in a stockbroker house based in Caracas.

Professionally, Gustavo has experienced a diverse range of challenges in both the public and private sectors. He was awarded a Naval Medal for distinguished acts in times of peace and an Outstanding Officer diploma by the Admiralty.

In hi community involvements, Gustavo takes part in the activities of the Venezuelan-British Chamber of Commerce and the Venezuelan Association of Friends of the United Kingdom to promote business and social ties between Venezuela and Great Britain. Besides, he has taken part in a social project developed by Shell Venezuela near their area of operations in Maracaibo.

Recently, he was awarded both a British Chevening Scholarship and a Shell Scholarship in support of his MBA at Manchester Business School.

Gustavo is single, enjoys jogging and swimming and is currently learning golf.
