Ciavaldini, Héctor

Héctor Ciavaldini is a Chemical Engineer graduated at the Universidad Central de Venezuela in 1964, and has a PhD in Hydrocarbons Combustion at the University of London in 1974.

In 1964, he began his teaching career as a professor of the Universidad Central de Venezuela until 1983. Likewise he was Invited Teacher to the Chemical Engineering Area of the University of London.

He entered in the oil business in 1983, at the Technology Department of Pequiven. In 1989, he was transfered to Bariven as an advisor, developing activities related with the evaluation of international provider companies. He made evaluations and studies of perception of image for Bariven and its branches, as well as policies for the handling and storage of dangerous materials until 1995.

We was hired by Ferrostaal de Venezuela as a business advisor, related with the hydrocarbons sector; and simultaneously he performed as a member of the planning program for the current President of Venezuela.

In December 1998, he was the President of the Comision de Enlace de PDVSA and in February 1999, he was appointed Vice-President of Strategic Planning while he worked as the President of Interven and also was a member of the Board of Directors of Ruhr Oel y AB Nynas Petroleum; such positions were held by him until the 31st. of August of that year, when he was promoted to the President of Petroleos de Venezuela.
