Mr. Milton E. Chaves accepted the position of Government Relations Manager with Mobil Agencia Administradora S.A., Caracas, Venezuela in April 1998.
He was the Senior Commercial Advisor for the United States Foreign Commercial Service in Caracas, Venezuela for over 20 years. In this capacity, he represented U.S. interests in his dealings with the high ranking Venezuelan government officials and participated in U.S.-Venezuela oil-energy, environmental and trade related negotiations. He was directly responsible for the Venezuelan activities and business development of the U.S. export-import bank (Exlm Bank), the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) and the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (TDA).
He is a former director of the International Chapter of the Venezuelan Petroleum Chamber, an active member of the VenAmCham's Engineering and Construction Committee, a Commercial Advisory Board director of CEVAZ, the Venezuelan-American Binational Center of Zulia State, and an advisor to Beprox, a PDVSA founded export promotion arm. He has been advisor to Venezuelan, US, and multinational corporations.
Mr. Chaves received special recognition from the Venezuelan Ministry of Environment, the Petroleum Chamber, the InterAmerican Chamber of Commerce of Houston and the U.S. Trade and Development Agency. He has also received several U.S. Government meritorious honors and superior service awards.
Previous to his U.S. Government experience, Mr. Chaves was the General manager of Cadelma, Caracas; and the Marketing Manager in Latin-America with Addison Wesley Publishin Co., Reading, Massachusetts.
Mr. Chaves graduated with an Associate Degree in Business Administation from Williamsport College, a B.A. from Lycoming College, Williamsport, PA, and an MBA from Universidad Central de Venezuela, Caracas, Venezuela.
