Thorogood, Philip W.

An entrepreneur, he is currently dedicated to consultancy services and promoting the installation of distribution companies, financing and technical services for equipment, spare parts, pieces and accessories for refrigeration units, air conditioned units, cooking and fast food utensils, and also the promotion of real estate developments in Carabobo and Falcon states.

Born in Caracas in December 1944; he studied his primary studies in Valencia, high school in the United States, superior studies at Lehigh University, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania (1963-1967), obtaining a B.A. in corporate administration, specialization in management from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Wharton Graduate Division (1972-1973), obtaining a master in corporate administration, specialization in multinational companies.

He has acted as the Director-President of the Central Region Committee (Carabobo and Aragua) of VenAmCham; President of the Board of Directors of the Colegio Internacional de Carabobo (CIC) (1996-to date); Vice-President of the Advisory Council of Universidad Tecnológica del Centro (1996-to date), and member of the Venezuelan-British Chamber of Commerce (1995-to date).

Posts held: Executive President of Corporación Mercantil Venezolana S.A. (Comersa) (1996-1999), Director of the same corporation from 1975-2001, President and Founder of Aire Acondicionado Industrial C.A. (Ainca) (1984-2000), President and Founder of Intercambiadores de Calor S.A. (INCASA) (1988-2000), President of the Refrigeración Industrial Venezolana S.A. (Rivesa) (1996-2000), President and Founder of Cocinas Industriales Venezolanas S.A. (Coinvesa) (1998-2000), Director of the Autonomous Port Institute of Puerto Cabello (Ipapc) (1993-1998), Director and President of the Fundación Carabobo Unido (1984-1988), Vice Consul ad-honorem to Great Britain (1985-1990), and Director of the Chamber of Commerce of Valencia (1983-1985).

He has received the Order “Sol de Carabobo” degree of Great Officer in 1996.
