NBC Universal: Director, Sales Strategy and Development – Latin America

The Director for Sales Strategy & Development will provide critical market intelligence, commercial analysis and deal structure/negotiation support to NBCU’s channels (UNI) and NBCU’s content licensing business (TVD) across Latin America.

Job Description

The Director Sales Strategy & Development will provide critical market intelligence, commercial analysis and deal structure/negotiation support to NBCU’s channels (UNI) and NBCU’s content licensing business (TVD) across Latin America. In addition, the Director will support any global TVD initiatives requiring Strategy support. The role is at Director level reflecting substantial experience in relevant commercial analysis as well as presentation of analysis to senior management. The person in this role will work closely with the UNI MDs and Commercial teams, the TVD Sales Executives, Finance, Legal and colleagues in Research.

UNI Deal Support
•Channel carriage and advertising sales deal negotiations:

•Setting out key terms of deal structure, in conjunction with MDs, Commercial leads and Legal

•Financial analysis and tracking of proposals / counter-proposals / negotiations

•Evaluation of ad sales performance of current TV channels across various international markets

•Calculation of the cost of new services (e.g. additional content rights)

•Input to deal negotiation strategies and decision-making

•Input and sharing of consistent sales strategy and best practices (rights, deal terms, etc.)

•Participation in client-facing deal negotiations

•Preparation and presentation at deal approval discussions with senior management

•Business modelling for new TV channels including:

•Revenue forecasts

•Cost modeling including programming, technical, marketing and operations

•Revenue and P&L sensitivities for changes in forecast assumptions

•Benchmarking against current operations / channels

TVD Deal Support

•Long-term deal negotiations

•Setting out key terms of deal structure, in conjunction with Sales Executives, Legal and Research. Deals will cover all aspects of Television Distribution inclusive of Pay, Basic, Free, and New Media/Technology rights

•Analysis of market pricing and client advertising / other revenues

•Modeling of deal structures

•Analysis of deal values and proposal terms in proposals/counter-proposals

•Input to deal negotiation strategies and decision-making

•Input and sharing of consistent sales strategy and best practices (rights, deal terms, etc.)

•Participation in client-facing deal negotiations

•Preparation and presentation at deal approval discussions with senior management

•Market analysis

•Provide regular, updated in-depth analysis of major and emerging television markets within the territory

•Provide in-depth analysis of technological developments impacting the television industry within the territory

Support for TVD planning and business strategy:

•Global viewing trends

•Global technology trends

•Performance benchmarking

•TVD deal tracking and status updates

•Preparation / drafting of parts of strategy presentations




Job Requirements

Qualifications & Requirements:
Basic Qualifications:
•5+ years of experience performing quantitative analysis, forecasting and/or financial modeling, preferably in media/entertainment industry

•Market data analysis experience, including both non-financial (e.g. subscriber numbers and audience ratings) and financial metrics

•Must have high degree of computer literacy particularly in using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

•Bachelor Degree required

Eligibility Requirements:

•Knowledge of television markets and channel operations

•Strong communication and presentation skills

•Must be self-motivating, self-sufficient and able to work effectively on own

•Comfortable dealing with senior management and international contacts

•Strong preference for fluent Spanish and Portuguese a plus

•MBA preferred
