Queen Elizabeth II Meets Her New Granddaughter, Princess Charlotte

LONDON Queen Elizabeth II and her husband Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, visited Kensington Palace in London on Tuesday to meet their new granddaughter, Princess Charlotte, the youngest daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and wife Kate Middleton.

Princess Charlotte, who was born at 7:34 a.m. GMT on Saturday, weighing eight pounds and three ounces (3.7 kilos), is the fifth great-granddaughter of the Queen Mother, 89, and the fourth in line to the throne behind her brother Prince George of Cambridge, who on July 22 will be two years old, her father, and grandfather, Prince Charles.

Charles and his wife Camilla, as well as the parents of Kate, Michael and Carole Middleton, also went to the palace to meet the royal baby.

On Sunday it was announced that the princess would be named Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, in honor to three of her royal relatives, but will be known officially as Her Royal Highness Princess Charlotte of Cambridge.
