PARIS – Jacques and Gabriella, the twin son and daughter of Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco, will be baptized on May 10 in a Catholic ceremony held at the Monaco Cathedral, the palace said in a statement on Monday.
The service will take place at 10:30 local time, after which the general population will congregate to hail the royal procession as they make their way from the cathedral to their residence, said the statement.
The ceremony will be broadcast on Monaco television.
Gifts will be received during a ceremony for the twins, a separate event to be held on July 11, which will coincide with the celebrations of the tenth anniversary of Prince Albert II’s coronation.
Princess Charlene Wittstock, a swimmer of South African origin, gave birth on Dec. 10 to Gabriella Therese Marie and Jacques Honore Rainier, who was proclaimed heir to the throne of the Principality of Monaco the following day.
