Harry Potter Characters Celebrated in New Portuguese Stamps

LISBON – A new set of stamps featuring characters from the Harry Potter saga is now available in Portugal for fans of the world of magic to acquire.

Around eight stamps are dedicated to the main protagonists and antagonists of the eight-film collection, including Potter, his friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, as well as the villainous Lord Voldemort.

“We all need a bit of magic in our lives,” Correios de Portugal said in a statement in which they announced the release of the stamp collection.

The collection also includes headmaster Albus Dumbledore, headmistress Minerva McGonagall, potions master Severus Snape and gamekeeper Rubeus Hagrid, the professors of the fictional magic school of Hogwarts.

Collaboration between CTT Correios de Portugal and Warner Bros Consumer Products created the new stamp collection.

The postal company made 130,000 copies of the main characters and 50,000 stamps of the professors.

Dumbledore and his team of professors are the most expensive, costing 2 euros ($2.22) each.

Voldemort costs 0.91 euros, while Potter is the cheapest at 0.70 euros.

Besides the wizards, Hogwarts houses Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw also feature on stamps and cost 2.04 euros each.
