Drake Sweeps Billboard Music Awards with 12 Wins

LOS ANGELES – Drake swept the Billboard Music Awards 2019 on Wednesday with 12 wins, becoming the artist with most number of BBMAs.

The Canadian has won 27 BBMAs in his career.

Drake took home Top Artist, Top Male Artist, Top Rap Male Artist and Top Billboard 200 Album for “Scorpio” at the gala, which took place at the MGM Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Rapper Cardi B also had a great night and bagged six awards.

Following her were Maroon 5 with four wins, while Ellas Mai, Luke Combs, Lauren Daigle and Puerto Rican reggaeton artist Ozuna, won three awards each.

Ozuna, who won 11 awards at the Billboard Latin Music Awards 2019 last week, claimed Top Latin Artist,Top Latin Album for “Aura” and Top Latin Song for “Te Bote” featuring Casper Magico, Nio Garcia, Darell, Nicky Jam, Bad Bunny.

Taylor Swift opened the BBMA shows with her new single “ME!” who was accompanied by lead singer of the band “Panic! At the Disco,” Brendon Urie.

One of the most awaited performances of the night was that of Madonna and Colombian reggaeton artist Maluma, who presented their single “Medellin” dressed in pirate-style attire.

BTS, The Jonas Brothers, Ariana Grande, Halsey, Tori Kelly, Dan + Shay, Khalid and Kelly Clarkson also performed at the gala.

Mariah Carey, who also performed at the MGM Garden Arena, was awarded the Icon Award.
