MOSCOW – Moscow authorities have transformed the city into an illuminated wonderland with spectacular light installations and decorations for the festive season and New Year celebrations.
The Russian capital was decorated with vast light sculptures of polar bears, some 4,000 decorative designs and at least 25 glittering Christmas trees that have been dotted around the city in an impressive festive display.
“Moscow has been embellished with light constructions on the threshold of New Year,” the Moscow government tweeted. “Lubyanka Square is not an exception.”
According to Moscow authorities, New Year celebrations are set to cost almost 972 million rubles ($14 million).
The city also offers myriad festive activities, from ice ballets to slides and carousels for the younger ones, Christmas markets, fireworks and winter games.
