France’s Louvre Museum to Offer Free Monthly Evening Visits from 2019

PARIS – The Louvre Museum is to start offering free evening visits on a monthly basis as of next year, a spokesperson for the prestigious art museum said Thursday.

The popular art museum in the heart of the French capital would offer visits on the first Saturday of every month from 6:00-9:45 pm starting Jan. 5 in a bid to “democratize” the art gallery, the source added.

The Richelieu Wing, which features French sculptures, Flemish paintings and other historic artworks would only be accessible via reservations.

According to the spokesperson, the Louvre wanted to offer residents of the Paris area, particularly young people, the opportunity to visit the museum in a way that suited their needs.
