Leclerc, Ericsson to Race for Alfa Romeo-Sauber in 2018 F1 Season

ARESE, Italy – Formula One team Alfa Romeo-Sauber confirmed on Saturday that Charles Leclerc of Monaco would join Swedish driver Marcus Ericsson to race during the 2018 season.

The announcement was made during a presentation held by the team in Arese, days after revealing Sauber’s new partnership with Alfa Romeo.

Leclerc told EFE that he was aiming to improve as much as possible in his debut season in Formula One.

The 20-year-old Formula Two reigning champion is set to replace Pascal Wehrlein of Germany.

He highlighted the importance of competing in Formula One, adding that he was keen to adapt quickly to the new situation.

Ericsson, meanwhile, said he was excited with the new partnership with Alfa Romeo.

He said that the team was aiming to improve their results in 2018, after ending the 2017 season in the 10th spot in the constructors’ standings.

Ericsson told EFE that hard work would be the only way to achieve that goal, while praising the new car, which was presented during the event.
