Borussia Mönchengladbach Upsets Bayern Munich 2-1 in Bundesliga

MÖNCHENGLADBACH, Germany – Borussia Mönchengladbach upset league-leading Bayern Munich in Bundesliga 13th-round action on Saturday.

Thorgan Hazard opened the scoring by converting a penalty in the 39th minute before Matthias Ginter increased the home side’s lead to 2-0 just before halftime.

Arturo Vidal pulled one back for Bayern in the 74th minute of the second half but it was too little too late for the visitors, who lost their first match since Jupp Heynckes returned to the Munich club as head coach.

Despite the loss, Bayern remains atop the Bundesliga standings with 29 points, three ahead of second-place Leipzig.
