Nadal Confirms Participation in Barcelona Open 2018

BARCELONA – Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal, the world No. 1, confirmed his participation in the 66th edition of the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell Trofeo Conde de Godo, scheduled for April 21-29, the organizers announced on Thursday.

Since August, Nadal has been leading the world rankings for the fourth time in his career. He was also the first tennis player to announce his participation in the Barcelona tournament.

“The Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell is a very important tournament in my calendar and whenever I could, I played it since I started to be professional,” said the player in a statement.

Nadal recalled that last year was “special” after he won his 10th title on the court of Real Club de Tenis Barcelona, where the competition is held.

“Playing at home is special to me and it is not only an important tournament in my calendar but also in the world tennis calendar,” added the Spaniard.

Nadal would be participating for the 14th time in the Barcelona Open, in which he has won 54 matches and lost only three.
