Isner, Pouille Through to Paris Masters 3rd Round

PARIS Ė American tennis player John Isner and Lucas Pouille of France advanced to the Paris Masters third round on Wednesday after eliminating Diego Schwartzman of Argentina and Feliciano Lopez of Spain, respectively.

Isner, world No. 14, needed two hours and 34 minutes to beat his world No. 25 opponent 7-6 (2), 6-7 (11), 6-3.

This match was the first clash between the 32-year-old American and the 25-year-old Argentinian, who reached the second round after beating Viktor Troicki of Serbia 6-3, 6-4 in the first round.

Isner, the ninth-seed, did not play the first round of the Paris tournament.

In the same round, Pouille, world No. 18, defeated world No. 33 Lopez 6-3, 6-4 in just 58 minutes to reach the third round.

The Paris Masters is one of nine ATP World Tour Masters 1000 events, which are the biggest tournaments on the menís tennis calendar after the four Grand Slams and the season-ending ATP World Tour Finals.
