Condition of Former MotoGP World Champion Remains Critical after Crash

ROME – The condition of former MotoGP champion Nicky Hayden remains extremely critical after his accident, the hospital said on Friday.

The 35-year-old motorcycle racer remains in intensive care for the second night in a row.

The hospital said his condition is still “extremely critical” due to the multiple traumas he sustained.

A car crashed into Hayden’s bicycle on Wednesday while he was riding with some friends in the northern Italian city of Rimini.

After the accident, Hayden was treated on-site by medical staff and taken by ambulance to a hospital near Rimini for immediate treatment.

The 2006 MotoGP champion was then transferred to Cesena, where he remains in the intensive care unit.
