Mitsubishi Recalls Nearly 20,000 Defective Montero Cars in China

BEIJING Mitsubishi Motors recalled 19,879 of its Montero (Pajero in Japan) cars in China for possibly having defective airbags, Chinese state-owned Xinhua agency reported Saturday.

The Japanese carmaker filed the recall to the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine in China.

The recall, which began Friday, involves vehicles that were imported to China between June 12, 2013 and Nov. 24, 2016, according to the Administration.

Automobiles with defective gas generators may break and injure passengers when the airbags open, recalled vehicles will have their faulty parts replaced.
