Colombian Interior Minister Unharmed after Plane Crash-Lands in Bogota

BOGOTA – Colombia’s interior minister and nine others accompanying him were unharmed when the plane carrying them crash-landed at Bogota’s international airport, officials said.

“Thank God we’re all well after the accident in El Dorado. No one was injured. Thank you to the crew, the National Police and the airport personnel,” Juan Fernando Cristo wrote on his Twitter account.

The incident occurred when the plane, an Anti-Narcotics Police aircraft, was touching down at the El Dorado International Airport.

The deputy interior minister for political relations, Guillermo Rivera, told the Red+Noticias network that the landing gear failed after a normal flight and the plane bounced twice on the runway.

The minister and the other members of his delegation were returning from a summit of governors in Pereira, capital of the central province of Risaralda.
