Internet and cable TV monthly fees increased between 29% and 74% from November to December, subscribers in the Venezuelan capital Caracas reported on Monday
María Castro, a resident of the Terrazas del Ávila neighborhood in east Caracas, told local news web site Descifrado that basic cable TV services fees by the company Inter unexpectedly shot up to Bs.40,000 in December from Bs.23,000 in November (73.91%).
On the other hand, Internet and cable TV customers of Supercable and those post-paid of DirecTV said that the combo service offered by the first company went from Bs.77,322 in November to Bs.101,000 in December (30.62%); the second one went from Bs.16,826 to Bs.21,692 over the same period, representing an increase of 29.41%.
Cable TV and Internet monthly subscriber fees have increased eightfold from January to December of this year.
In January, DirecTV television services were only Bs.2,189. In December they reached Bs.21,692, representing a 12-month increase of 890.95%. For its part, Supercable was Bs.10,141.32 in January. The company’s fees soared to Bs.101,000 in December, a 12-month increase of 895.92%.
