Spanish Embassy in Venezuela Attacked, Suffers No Damage

CARACAS – Spain’s embassy in Venezuela was attacked on Thursday by a pair of motorists who threw three small bombs onto the mission’s lawn that blew up but caused no damage and no injuries.

Spanish envoy to Venezuela Jesus Silva confirmed the attack to EFE but reiterated that the incident did not cause damage or injuries, or problems of any other kind, and that the local authorities had been providing all necessary assistance in the matter.

The incident occurred about 2:00 pm when two people riding a motorcycle threw the small-yield homemade explosives onto the Embassy grounds.

The Public Ministry announced that it had begun a probe into the matter and criminal investigation authorities are at the scene gathering “evidence of interest” and performing other duties to determine those responsible.
