Tal Cual: The ‘Hojillagate’ Scandal
Mario Silva speaks as some Cuban listens to his horror story of colossal frauds, intrigues, disloyalties, contradictions, conspiracies, gossip, possible coup d’états and all the rottenness someone can expect from a human organization. This is still an unconcluded movie and we expect not only to know how it ends, but how it was its production and distribution, something that will reveal its true intentions.

By Tal Cual

We’ve heard from the Venezuelan opposition, and even from Henrique Capriles himself, that an epochal, historical, announcement was to be made, a revelation of the existence of a local Vladimiro Montesinos which, broadly speaking, is a verbal report from state-run TV station Venezolana de Televisión’s late night show La Hojilla anchorman Mario Silva who, to the amazement of many, turned out to be a high intelligence agent (who reports directly to Fidel Castro) talking with someone previously identified as head of the Cuban secret services in Venezuela and the bridge of information with the hierarchs in Havana.

What Silva says – the Cuban barely speaks as he pays heed to him – is a horror story of colossal frauds, intrigues, disloyalties, contradictions, conspiracies, gossip, possible coup d’états and all the rottenness someone can expect from a human organization. Some of the stories that were caught on tape are well-known, others are imagined and others are breaking news. Most of them are believable, sometimes objective, and many others are confessions.

Let us limit ourselves (so we don’t drown in this small horrible inferno and its spread fire that makes a good part of our rulers thieves, traitors, courtesans and people avid of power with no morals whatsoever, all this courtesy of the strongman Hugo Chávez) to the primary intention of this big set up operation: Proving that Diosdado Cabello, the head of the Congress, not only is a big-time thief who manages most of the state’s financial apparatus, extending his tentacles nearly all the vital centers of the State, mostly our Army, where his generation has made it to the generalship, also the police forces and intelligence bodies, as well as his capacity to manipulate with no ethics a good part of the rest of the strings of the leftist PSUV party and public powers.

All this was set up with the goal of eventually taking over power and, therefore, conspire to the ouster of Nicolás Maduro, who doesn’t seem aware or wide awake before all the dangers threatening him at his own home.

We do not have a doubt that all this is very important and it can clarify with the brightest light the most real of realities of what is happening in the core of national power and, therefore, what is happening in the entire nation.

But we want to act with extreme caution as we write these lines, because the recording was heard recently and necessary reactions have not yet been produced, not even from those who made public this recording (the opposition leaders) or from those who are being pointed at as authors of such scandal down at the governmental sphere. We are not very certain of the origin of this tape, or the voices of the people involved in it, or the real purpose behind it.

Besides, the floor is given to all of its leading and supporting actors, in other words, the ones accused. And of course to all the eventual casualties, meaning their peers. This is a spectacle that condemns us all, at least for now, to become spectators for leaving us either full of anger or disappointed.

This is still an unconcluded movie and we expect not only to know how it ends, but how it was its production and distribution, something that will reveal its true intentions.

What we are very sure about is that tomorrow won’t be the same as to the balances ruling our political forces and that this truly touched the hearts of those hopeful people wanting a change for good in this country sooner than later.
