Canadian Teenager Drowns on Beach in Northern Puerto Rico

SAN JUAN – The body of the Canadian teenager who drowned on a beach in San Juan’s Condado district was found on Tuesday, Puerto Rican authorities confirmed.

The search and rescue coordinator for the Puerto Rican emergency and disaster management agency, Nino Correa, told local media that the body of 17-year-old Justin Langley was found by a rescue team at 6:30 a.m. floating near the Marriott Hotel.

Langley, who the media said came to Puerto Rico to attend a wedding, went into the water on Sunday evening when strong currents were being registered in the area.

About 10 other people went into the water for a dip at the same time, but Langley – who evidently was staying at the Marriott – was swept away by the undertow despite the attempts of a relative and hotel personnel to save him. EFE
