Sofia Vergara Gets Third Emmy Nomination

LOS ANGELES – Colombia’s Sofia Vergara, who received her third consecutive Emmy nomination on Thursday for her role in the comedy “Modern Family,” will give a Latin flavor to the 64th edition of the awards.

“Thanks to everybody who loves ‘Modern Family’!” tweeted the actress on her Twitter account. “It’s a lot of fun to be nominated again! And thanks, ‘Modern Family.’”

Vergara will compete in the best supporting actress in a comedy series category with “Modern Family” cast-mate Julie Bowen, Mayim Bialik (“The Big Bang Theory”), Kathryn Joosten (“Desperate Housewives”), Merritt Wever (“Nurse Jackie”) and Kristen Wiig (“Saturday Night Live”).

The actress from Barranquilla continues to cause a sensation with her character Gloria Delgado, and so far she has won two awards from the Screen Actors Guild as well as garnering two nominations at the Golden Globes.

Vergara, who is currently filming “Machete Kills” and the sequel to “The Smurfs,” recently became the highest-earning television actress in the United States, according to a list published by Forbes magazine.

The 64th edition of the Emmy Awards will be broadcast on Sept. 23 by ABC from the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. EFE
