Sofia Vergara Is Top-Earning Woman on U.S. Television

NEW YORK – Colombian actress Sofia Vergara has added a new milestone to her meteoric career by becoming the top-earning woman on U.S. television, according to a list published Wednesday by Forbes magazine.

The 40-year-old native of Barranquilla brought in $19 million in the 12 months ending May 31, the magazine said.

Boasting an “unrivaled” appeal among Hispanics, Vergara has also managed to win over Anglos with her performance on the ABC hit “Modern Family.”

“For advertisers, the combination is electric,” Forbes said.

Over the past year the Colombian appeared in three films, signed endorsement contracts in English and Spanish for $12 million, and launched a line of clothing for Kmart for another $7 million.

Forbes, which will feature the Colombian star on the cover of its next edition, said that Vergara is “the reigning queen of primetime television.”

Another Latina, “Desperate Housewives” star Eva Longoria, came in third on the Forbes list, with earnings of $15 million. EFE
