AES Presents Plans for Wind Park in Argentina

BUENOS AIRES – U.S. energy firm AES Corp. has submitted plans to build a 30 MW wind park in the Argentine province of Buenos Aires, officials said.

Executives with the Arlington, Virginia-based company’s local unit presented the plans Tuesday to Argentine Industry Minister Debora Giorgi.

No construction timeframe or investment estimates were given for the proposed wind farm, which would be built in the province’s Tornquist district.

The Industry Ministry said the proposed wind park is part of a recently launched plan by that portfolio and sector firms for increased investment aimed at creating 10,000 jobs and generating 1 GW of wind power capacity in eight years.

AES operates nine power plants in Argentina with a combined installed capacity of 2.93 GW, or approximately 12 percent of the country’s total installed capacity.

The company employs 430 people in the South American country. EFE
