Venezuela Stock Market Up 112%
Although it was a slow week for the Venezuela Stock Market -- with the US and Venezuela Independence Day holidays last week -- the Caracas Stock Market closed at 248,429, up 112.27% for the year to date.

CARACAS -- Between the US and Venezuela holidays last week, Caracas stocks barely traded, with less than 10,000 shares trading and the index closing at 248,429 on the week ending Friday, July 6.

Only one stock went up during the week, Banco de Venezuela, up 11.4% at Bs. 2.9, while Banco Provincial dropped 2.5% at Bs. 80 and Mercantil Servicios Financieros B lost 2.5% at Bs. 78. All other stocks were flat or did not trade.

The Venezuelan Stock Market Index is now up 112.27% for the year to date.
