TEGUCIGALPA – Three members of a family drowned in the Caribbean Sea off La Ceiba, a city in northern Honduras, the fire department said.
Orvin Rivera Vallecillo, 56, Olvin Rivera Fajardo, 22, and Adonis Rivera, 22, drowned on Saturday, La Ceiba fire department spokesman Wilmer Guerrero told Tegucigalpa’s Radio America.
The three men, whose relation to each other was not disclosed, drowned while swimming in the waters off La Ceiba, which is packed this weekend with people enjoying their Holy Week vacations, the fire department spokesman said.
The three men were from Atima, a town in the western province of Santa Barbara, Guerrero said.
Firefighters and other emergency workers were called and recovered the bodies about two hours after the men disappeared, Guerrero said.
