BUENOS AIRES – Seven trucks and dozens of gas cylinders were destroyed in a fire at a gas processing and distributing plant of the French company Totalgaz in the Malvinas Argentinas district of Greater Buenos Aires.
Officials said the blaze started in the wee hours Saturday from unknown causes and that a score of firefighting teams rushed to the plant to fight the flames, which caused dozens of gas cylinders to explode that were stored there.
The fire was brought under control and firefighters said that no one was injured, neither inside the plant nor in the homes in the surrounding areas, which were evacuated.
