Nicaraguan Diplomat Found Beheaded in New York

NEW YORK – A 34-year-old Nicaraguan diplomat was found beheaded inside his New York apartment, police sources told Efe on Thursday.

The sources said NYPD officers responded to a call early Thursday about a dead body inside an apartment in the Bronx.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was found by his driver, according to several media outlets

While CNN suggested the diplomat was assigned to the Nicaraguan Consulate in the city, other accounts identified him as a counselor at Nicaragua’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations.

The dead man had been in New York for eight years, CNN said.

Police are investigating the death as a homicide, an NYPD spokesperson told Efe. EFE
