Mexican Supreme Court Justice Dies in London

MEXICO CITY – Mexican Supreme Court Justice Jose de Jesus Gudiño Pelayo died from a heart attack over the weekend in London, judicial officials said.

The 67-year-old Gudiño Pelayo, who died on Sunday in the British capital, was an associate member of the high court.

The justice was on vacation in Britain and the Mexican Embassy in London is handling the arrangements for the repatriation of his body, the Supreme Court said in statement.

The Government Secretariat expressed the government’s “most heartfelt condolences to the family” of the justice and the other members of the high court.

Gudiño Pelayo was born in Autlan, a town in Jalisco state. He was scheduled to complete his term on the high court in 2015. EFE
