SANTIAGO – A policeman was injured and 120 people arrested during a concert by U.S. rock band Metallica before more than 50,000 fans in the Chilean capital, authorities said Wednesday.
Police said most of the arrests took place when hundreds of fans without tickets tried to force their way into Santiago’s Club Hipico horse-racing grounds for Tuesday night’s concert.
“A group of people tried to enter without tickets and Carabineros (militarized police) had to act, launching water,” Col. Miguel Angel Castro said.
The detainees were arrested for offenses such as disorderly conduct, drug possession and drinking in public, police said. Prosecutors will decide on Wednesday whether to prosecute the rowdy fans. EFE
